Camfil’s Mobile Test Lab: Choose the Right Filters for your Site

Modern, high efficiency turbomachinery are highly sensitive to even the smallest particles. It’s a well-known fact that efficient filters combined with low pressure drop throughout the inlet have a great impact on performance. This means low operating and maintenance costs and a consistently high efficiency rating.

Choosing the right filter for your specific site conditions, with the right filtration efficiency, structural stability and dust holding capacity, is critical to achieve these results. The Camlab, Camfil‘s mobile test rig, allows you to evaluate multiple filters at once under actual operating conditions, and with no risk to your equipment. Air filter comparisons are performed where filters are monitored and analyzed for contaminant removal performance, mechanical structure integrity and other important functions in various environmental conditions.

Strategic Analysis

This laboratory carries sophisticated analysis equipment in order to evaluate existing products as well as develop new innovative air filter solutions. By remote access, the system can be controlled, and data can be retrieved from the test site in real time. Camfil R&D is working everyday, closely together with end customers, research facilities and Camfil laboratories to expand the knowledge of air filtration by conducting long term, real life testing at numerous sites around the world.

Mobile Laboratory: Onsite Field Testing

The CamLab consists of four parallel ducts that may be fitted with prefilters and final filters, allowing four different filter combinations to be tested at the same time.

Using actual environmental conditions, filter performance may be evaluated using various air filter types and efficiencies.

For example, placed in the immediate vicinity of a power plant or like, the CamLab could be used to:

  • analyze the ambient air quality;
  • determine whether your turbomachinery is currently equipped with adequate filtration to handle these contaminants; and
  • further determine the best type and level of filtration for the turbine by simultaneously testing several filter combinations.

Additional Features

  • Can test multi-stage filters, either static or pulse
  • Approved for Class 1, Div. 2 safety standards
  • Molecular, gas analysis

It thereby combines the controlled environment of a laboratory with a more meaningful real-world setting, offering the “best of both worlds” from a testing standpoint.
