Dance studios - improving the air quality and protecting teachers and students

Dance Studio_City M.jpg
Similar to gyms and other recreational facilities, dance studios are reeling due to shut-down and COVID-19 restrictions. Concerns among owners, teachers, and students are growing as some indoor activities come into the risk zone. Parents with children going to dance studios along with owners and teachers are adhering to strict restrictions imposed due to COVID-19.

Many studio owners are enhancing the indoor air quality by installing high-efficiency air filtration solutions that will fight harmful pathogens and provide clean, healthy indoor air. In a matter of hours (depending on the size of the room), a CITY air purifier with three-stage filtration will reduce the number of particles in the air by literally millions per cubic metre. The HEPA filter used is so efficient that air would have to pass through an average ventilation system three times to achieve the same level of purification.

THE CUSTOMER

Hilton
Hall Dance Academy is one of the UK’s leading dance schools. They specialise in teaching ballet, tap, modern, and jazz dance styles to children between 2-18 years old. They have been doing this for over 25 years, achieving a 100% success rate in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) examinations. They also have a performance team that regularly competes and have achieved much success in winning national and international championships. Hilton Hall Dance Academy believe that teaching children to dance gives them a good grounding in life, giving them the skills and discipline needed to help them achieve, whether it be in pursuing a professional career in the arts or just helping them to obtain their life goals in a normal working life.

THE SITUATION

In March 2020, Hilton Hall had to close its doors because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. They took their teaching online to help keep life as normal as possible for their students but also started planning the best and safest way of getting the studios open again. The dance studios have no ventilation systems in place which was restricting the number of students being able to return.
This is when they contacted Camfil, as they had previously worked with us to monitor the studio‘s air quality. Knowing that Camfil is a pioneer in creating ‘clean air solutions’, they knew that we would be able to provide an environment that would be safe and help protect from the COVID-19 virus, giving peace of mind to students, parents, and teachers.

THE SOLUTION

The solution was to install Camfil City M air purifiers. These units are supplied with certified H13 HEPA filters that are capable of removing 99.95% of the most penetrating particle size. With the City M‘s in place, the studios could open again, safe in the knowledge that the air is constantly being recirculated and cleaned to the highest standard. It also meant they could have more students return, which in itself paid for the City M’s.

Joanna Hilton, LISTD LIDTA AISTD (Dip) AIDTA CDE, Hilton Hall’s Principle said, installing the Camfil City M’s has meant that the school can get back to doing what we love, teaching children to achieve their best in a safe and welcoming environment."
