Ambient air service: Air sampling-cascade impactor & cassette

The cascade impactor and cassette air sampling tests provide a snapshot about the contaminants present in the ambient air. This contaminant analysis shows you what needs to be kept out of your turbines. Using this data, our team can determine the types of contaminants and their mass distribution. Based on this air quality analysis, we can recommend the filtration stages that you need to build into your system to deliver the best protection against engine degradation.

  • Provides a snapshot of the contaminants present in the air in 24-72 hours
  • Identifies risk to the turbine such as fouling or corrosion
  • Easy to use - hassle-free, fully automated equipment
  • Helps determine the filtration stages and efficiencies required
  • Determines the mass of particles that are present in the air (Cassette)
  • Determines the size range of particles in the air (Cascade Impactor)
  • Battery operated
  • Optional: sulfur by mass; particle count

Comments
Cassette: The air monitoring cassette collects a single sample of all solid particles present in ambient air. This sample is then weighed in order to determine the mass of particles present. By comparing the mass of particles we have found to the volume of air flowing through the cassette, the mass concentration in micrograms per cubic meter can be determined.

Cascade Impactor: The cascade impactor plays a similar role, except it divides up incoming particles into seven different samples depending on their size range (0-0.52; 0.52-0.93; 0.93-1.55; 1.55-3.5; 3.5-6; 6-9.8; >9.8 microns). Each of these seven different ranges can then be analyzed individually, in order to determine the weight of particles in that range. Various elements are analyzed including sulfur, chlorine and many other damaging elements for gas turbines.
